Chinese new year is the biggest festival that is also known as the spring festival. It is commemorated every year in the first day of Lunar calendar.
Yeah, what I can remember from this is the practices. Red and Gold everywhere! There are lanterns, ang pao,Firecrackers, fireworks and Barong Sai! It is the time to recall memories. To meet your relatives, share, and have fun together.
As you know, Chinese Zodiacs have 12 animals. 2013 is The year of water snake. In Chinese tradition
(as I know) there are 5 elements. Water, fire, earth, gold and iron. (Aww I think it's cool cause it's really different from 4 most-known elements, fire, water, earth and air/wind)
Here is some explanations about the myth of CNY! The background of the using of red color as the most mainstream color in this festival

"According to tales and legends, the beginning of Chinese New Year started with the fight against a mythical beast called the Nian (Chinese: 年; pinyin: Nián). Nian would come on the first day of New Year to eat livestock, crops, and even villagers, especially children. To protect themselves, the villagers would put food in front of their doors at the beginning of every year. It was believed that after the Nian ate the food they prepared, it wouldn’t attack any more people. One time, people saw that the Nian was scared away by a little child wearing red. The villagers then understood that the Nian was afraid of the color red. Hence, every time when the New Year was about to come, the villagers would hang red lanterns and red spring scrolls on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to frighten away the Nian. From then on, Nian never came to the village again. The Nian was eventually captured by Hongjun Laozu, an ancient Taoist monk. The Nian became Hongjun Laozu's mount"

I got enough money ang paos !In chinese tradition, it's a 'must' for us to have a good kinship! (Well but people nowaday seems to leave the oldies)

This dress is a little loose so I might seem a little chubbier. I also cut my hair. Weird - or not? Well, I don't care though. My optimistic side of me say it's cute.
